Are you eligible for a 24+ Loan?
24+ Advanced Learning Loans help you pay the fees charged by approved colleges and training organisations in England. Most learners aged 24 and over, studying at Level 3 and Level 4 (which includes Access to HE Diplomas, other Diplomas and Certificates) will qualify for these new loans from the UK government.
Apprenticeships are high quality work-based training programmes for those who want to develop their future career prospects. They combine paid work with on-the-job training, qualifications and progression.
Access to Higher Education Courses
Access courses are one year courses aimed specifically at those aged 19 and over who are returning to study. They prepare you for entry to university to study for a degree, HNC/HND or other higher education courses.
BTEC Higher National Certificates (HNCs) and Diplomas (HNDs) are Level 4/5 qualifications with a vocational emphasis. Successful students can either progress onto university to complete an Honours Degree programme or to go directly into employment.
Council for Awards in Children's Care and Education (CACHE)
CACHE qualifications are designed for people who would like a career in the care and education of children and young people.
Vocationally Related Qualifications (VRQ)
VRQs are designed to provide students with relevant skills and knowledge of their chosen subject so that they can follow a pathway to employment or further study.
National Vocational Qualifications (NVQ)
NVQs are work based awards in England, Wales and Northern Ireland that are achieved through assessment and training.
Open College Network (OCN) Credits
The Open College Network offers credits on a wide range of programmes from Entry Level to Level 3. These can be accumulated towards the National Open College Network (NOCN) Award, Certificate or Diploma qualification up until Level 3.
Other Vocational or Technical Qualifications and Awards
There are a wide range of specialist qualifications offered by awarding bodies, such as OCR and City and Guilds, which can be taken on their own or in combination with other courses of study.
University Progression Links
Many students come to Waltham Forest College as a stepping stone to further study at university. Each year our students progressed to Diploma and Degree courses at around 50 different universities throughout the country.
