If you're aged 19 or over on 1st August 2016, you can apply for an Advanced Learner Loan to help with the costs of a course at College.
The course must be an eligible course at level 3 or above.
You only have to pay your loan back when both of the following apply:
- you’ve finished your course
- you earn more than £21,000 a year
Loan eligibility doesn’t depend on your income and there are no credit checks.
If you need additional help with costs such as childcare, travel or trips related to your course, you may be eligible for money from the Advanced Learner Loan Bursary Fund.
However unlike the loan, your household income is taken into account and you must apply to the College directly for the Bursary Fund. You can apply as soon as you've recieved a letter confirming your Advanced Learner Loan.
You'll find everything you need to know about the loan on this website, but if you have any questions, please give us a call on 020 8501 8501 or come in and speak to our team.
Alternatively you can visit the gov.uk website for more information.
(10/5/16: Please note the gov.uk website still refers to the loan as 24+, however these loans have been made available to anyone aged 19 or over from 1st August 2016)
