Life at College: Get Involved!

There can be so much more to student life than studying and Waltham Forest College will invest in your student experience as well as your academic success. The sheer scale of student-run, student-led activities will give you every opportunity to try something new, discover new passions and continue to develop ones you already have.

  • Enrichment Activities

    Enrichment Activities

    Through our Enrichment programme, students have access to sports, clubs and extra courses (like first aid). You can also access support with anything from learning to mental health and you can get recognised with awards.

    We build our enrichment programme around student feedback to ensure there is always something for everyone.

  • Freshers' Fair

    Freshers' Fair

    Each year we hold a Freshers’ event attended by a range of organisations who give out discounts and offers for our students. It’s a great time to meet other students and find out more about enrichment activities, clubs and courses.

  • Student Common Room

    Student Common Room

    Our Student Common Room is a great place to unwind and relax during your breaks. It features pool tables, table tennis, a gaming corner and lots of comfy sofas so you can refresh before your next lesson. 

    Themed events are held in the Common Room so you can get the best experience of being a Waltham Forest College student.

    Student Union

    The Students’ Union represents the learners of Waltham Forest College and is elected by students each year.

    The Union members are at the heart of your college experience and community. They run campaigns, events and activities as well as overseeing and organising student-led clubs and societies.

  • Student Ambassadors

    Student Ambassadors

    Apply to become a Student Ambassador and represent the College in key events and activities. This is a great opportunity to build experience for your CV and get paid at the same time.

    We have notable guest speakers visit the College to run workshops, and to share their personal experiences of life and work. Get inspired by motivational sessions, get career ready with industry talks or plan ahead for university with a variety of workshops.

  • Places to Eat and Meet

    Places to Eat and Meet

    There are plenty of food and drink options at the College, including our Costa Coffee in Café on 2, The Deli in the Market Place and our lunch restaurant Café on 4, all offering a range of hot and cold meals, drinks and snacks.

  • Learning Resource Centre

    Learning Resource Centre

    The LRC is the perfect space for students to complete assignments or do extra studies in a quiet space between lessons or on days off from college. You can borrow laptops or make use of the PC facilities and there is a wide range of books and resources to complement your course.

  • Extra Services

    Extra Services

    There are a range of extra services available to students, such as our on-site Elite Hair & Beauty Salons and Barbers, a Print Shop for you to print off any work and assignments and a Butcher Shop open on Thursdays where you can buy top quality meat at great prices.

  • The College Listens

    The College Listens

    The feedback we get from our students is very important. Each course nominates a representative who will meet with staff regularly to provide feedback from their class.
