This course is designed for ages 16-19. Or 19+ adults who are retaking GCSE English or maths and wish to develop their knowledge and skills of IT employment sector.

This course is equivalent to 2 A-levels and is made up of 2 qualifications over 2 years.

In your first year of study, you will work towards the Level 3 National Extended Certificate in IT. On successful completion of this course, you will progress to the Level 3 Diploma in IT.

This course supports the development of essential, specialist skills for careers in information technology such as networking, programming, or data management.

IT provides learners with the academic skills to progress to a range of higher education and apprenticeship courses including HNC or BA in computing, network engineering, business management, telecom professionals, infrastructure technician etc.

Through tutorial sessions you will be supported to enhance your employability skills including project management, team work, research, communication and presentation skills alongside your time management.
The course is scheduled over 3.5 days per week and will be a mixture of theory, practical and online lessons.

•    Higher education – either a degree or HNC/D in business
•    Employment within the IT Sector

The entry requirements for this course are:

•    4 GCSEs at Grade 4 (C) or above including English and maths or
•    Merit in relevant Level 2 qualification
•    Interview and assessment

You will have the opportunity to study GCSE maths or English alongside your course so you can progress onto the next level. 

You will study a wide range of units that will allow you to deepen your understanding of the business sector, these include:

Year 2 units for this programme may include: 
•    Programming 
•    IT project management

This course is supported by our Create Your Future Programme. An online curriculum, specially tailored to your course and level, to help you develop essential workplace skills, strengthen your independence, boost confidence and increase progression opportunities.

Learners will complete 8 units. Of these, 3 are externally assessed and the others through coursework.
