The Digital Information Technology (IT) Level 3 course consists of 2 separate qualifications over 2 years.
In the first year of study, you will work towards the BTEC Level 3 National Foundation Diploma in Information Technology. On successful completion of this course, you will progress to the Information Technology BTEC National Diploma Level 3.
This course is designed for you to develop your knowledge in IT such as, data management, cybersecurity, networking, programming and social media in business. It supports the development of essential, specialist skills for careers in information technology.
The course is equivalent to 3 A-Levels and prepares learners for a range of higher education and Apprenticeship courses including HND or degree in computing, network engineering, business management, telecom professionals and infrastructure technician etc.
Through tutorial sessions you will be supported to enhance your employability skills, including, project management, teamwork, research, communication and presentation skills alongside your time management.
Waltham Forest College is putting sustainability at the heart of everything that we do, and in this course, you will be made aware of practices that supports pollution prevention, ecosystem management and environmental protection. There will be an emphasis on the use, handling and storage of digital equipment and ensuring businesses use efficient technology systems to reduce their carbon footprint. All course work is digitally submitted and tutors' feedback electronically, reducing the amount of printing and paper being used.
The course is scheduled over 4 days per week and will be a mixture of theory, practical and online lessons.

Entry Requirements
The entry requirements for this course are:
- 4 GCSEs at Grade 4 (C) or above including maths and English, or Merit in a relevant Level 2 qualification
You will be required to attend an informal interview which may include completing an assessment based on your prior qualifications.

Work Experience
You must complete 36 hours (1 week) of external work placement which is an essential part of the programme. Some of the opportunities will include placements with employers such as Ernest & Young, IBM and Computacenter.
