Sector Overview
Having a GCSE grade in English and maths is vital to your future success. This course is for those students who have not yet passed their English and/or maths GCSE to at least Grade 4, which is preventing further progression with their studies.

Entry Requirements
The entry requirements for this course are:
- Grade 3 or above in English and or maths
- Assessment and interview
- 90%+ attendance at school or college for the previous year

What will I study?
Students will study one or both of:
- English GCSE
- Maths GCSE
Students will also be expected to complete:
- A project preparing them for their next steps (Level 3 study/university) which they can undertake of their choosing in discussion with their tutor

You will be assessed via:
- Written tasks
- Examination

Enrichment
Students will have access to the Enrichment programme at the College which includes a variety of clubs and societies that you can join.

Work Experience
You will be supported to complete 36-hours of work placement with an external employer linked to the industry of study. This is a mandatory aspect of your programme.

Progression opportunities
Holding a grade 4 or above in English and maths will facilitate progression to Level 3 Study (A Level, T Level, BTEC Level 3) and beyond into university.
Students who have a Grade 4 or above in English and maths with other suitable qualifications may be eligible to undertake a higher-level apprenticeship if they have other suitable vocational or academic qualifications. Your future destinations will be discussed with you by your course tutor.
