This course is designed for 19+ adults. This qualification will allow you to progress to a level two course in engineering maintenance or design to further develop your skills in preparation for an apprenticeship.

The entry requirements for this course are:

  • 4 GCSEs at Grade 3 (D) or above including English and Maths

  • Interview and assessment

This course consists of the following modules:

  • Working Safely in an Engineering Environment

  • Carry out Engineering Activities Efficiently and Effectively

  • Using and Communicating Technical Information

  • Maintaining and Using Mechanical Devices and Equipment such as Lathes and Mills

  • Maintaining Electrical Equipment/Systems

  • General Maintenance Engineering Applications

  • Design Using CAD Software

Your course will be assessed via:

  • Observation of your practical work by a qualified assessor

  • Your industry knowledge will be assessed by short question papers, which will take place throughout your programme of study

  • Multiple choice online examinations

This course will lead you to progression to a Level 3 Engineering NVQ. You will also be able to gain employment as an engineering maintenance apprentice in a range of industries or progress to further learning in engineering in readiness for more senior technical job roles.
