This course is designed for 19+ adults. Throughout the course you will be taught by lecturers that have worked within the Fashion Industry to gain realistic industrial level experience. After successful completion of the HNC L4 course you will have the opportunity to either progress onto the level 5 HND qualification, a Degree course or enter into a career in the Fashion and Textiles industry.
The entry requirements for this course are:
- 4 GCSEs at grade C(4) or above
- Level 3 Qualification (BTEC Nationals, A Levels or Access course)
- Evidence of interest and commitment to the course
- You will be required to attend an informal interview showing a portfolio of work
- For mature learners alternative entry requirements can be assessed at interview

- Contextual and Cultural Referencing in Art and Design
- Professional Practice in Art and Design
- Design Exploration in Textiles
- Design Exploration in Fashion
- Techniques and Processes in Fashion
- Production Techniques in Fashion
You will be assessed via:
- Project based Assignment Briefs
- Internal Verifier
- Internal Examining Board
- External Examiner
This course will lead to progression onto the Level 5 HND Fashion and Textiles at Waltham Forest College, or the second or third year of an honours degree (after the HND), depending on the match of the HNC/D units to the degree course in question. Alternatively, you could go straight into employment or self-employment.
