This course is designed for 16-19 year olds.
This course will provide you with an understanding of the skills and knowledge required to progress. This is Year 1 (Level 1) of a 2 Year (Level 2) course. Upon successful completion, you will have the option to progress to a Level 2 in Childcare or Health & Social Care.
Our Childcare and Health and Social Care Course is an introductory course for people interested in working in Early Years and/or Health and Social Care settings.
Throughout this course you will be trained and assessed to achieve a CACHE qualification as well as receive a minimum of 36 hours work experience in a childcare or health and social care environment.
The course is scheduled over 3-4 days per week.
Your progression from this qualification will be either:
• Health and Social Care Level 2 course
• Childcare Level 2 course
• Level 2 Apprenticeship
The entry requirements for this course are:
• Interview and assessment
• Clear & enhanced DBS check (provided by College)
If required, you will have the opportunity to study GCSE maths and/or English alongside your course so you can progress onto the next level.
You will be trained and assessed across the following areas:
• Health and Safety
• Person-centred approaches to care
• Healthy eating
This course is supported by our Create Your Future Programme. An online curriculum, specially tailored to your course and level, to help you develop essential workplace skills, strengthen your independence, boost confidence and increase progression opportunities.
