This course is designed for 19+ adults who are aspiring to enter a teaching career. The Award in Education and Training Level 3 qualification is an introduction to teaching that will give an insight into the roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training, how to plan and deliver inclusive teaching sessions and how to assess and give constructive feedback.

You will gain experience and confidence by presenting research activities to the group. The course will run for 3 hours per week for 16 weeks.

  • Entry Requirements

    The entry requirements for this course are:

    • You must hold a Level 2 or equivalent in maths and English
    • You must hold a minimum of a Level 3 in the subject you want to teach which you need to evidence by showing relevant certificates
    • You will be required to attend an informal interview which may include completing an assessment based on your prior qualifications

    This course consists of the following modules:

    • Roles, responsibilities and relationships in education
    • Inclusive teaching approaches in education and training
    • Principles of assessment
  • How will I be assessed?

    You will be assessed via:

    • Written tasks 
    • Practical activities
  • Enrichment

    To further enhance your teaching practice, you will take part in presentations to your peers. You will have access to key employers that will deliver guest lectures to build your industry knowledge and create your future. 

    You can also access our Student Common Room which is a great place to unwind and relax during your breaks. It features pool tables, table tennis, a gaming corner and lots of comfy sofas so you can refresh before your next lesson. Themed events are also held in the Common Room so you can get the best experience of being a learner at Waltham Forest College.

  • Work Experience

    You must complete a microteach presentation to your peers and assessors which is an essential part of the programme.

  • Progression opportunities

    Successful completion of this course will lead to:

    • Teaching/training and support roles in public and private sector organisations
    • Diploma in Education and Training Level 5
