Young carers
Life at college may present some challenges for all young people, especially those with a caring role at home where they are juggling the dual roles of being a student and carer. It is estimated there are over 21,500 people in Waltham Forest providing care for a relative or friend. Carers do an amazing job and have the right to be supported. Waltham Forest College has partnered up with specialist agencies and organisations to ensure support plans are in place for all carers.
- Providing information, advice and guidance specific to you as a carer
- Supporting you with conversations with key professionals
- Providing opportunities to attend support groups where you can meet other carers
- Offering support for carers to plan, for now, the future and emergencies

College of Sanctuary
As a College of Sanctuary, we are proud to offer a welcoming, inclusive and safe environment for all students, particularly those seeking sanctuary, including refugees and asylum seekers.
Our support is holistic and student-centered, recognising the unique challenges faced by sanctuary-seeking students. We provide financial and academic support, access to wellbeing and counselling services and dedicated staff who work closely with students to ensure they feel safe, valued and empowered.
Through awareness-raising events, inclusive curriculum practices, and strong partnerships with local community organisations, we actively promote understanding, compassion and opportunity.
