16-18 Study Programmes

Create Your Future on one of our study programmes designed for school leavers.

What is a Study Programme?

Your Study Programme is designed to prepare you for employment and is made up of four key elements.

  • 1. Your Main Qualification

This is your chosen subject (e.g. a BTEC). You will study a mixture of theory and practical work and complete coursework and/or exams. All courses include group tutorials and one-to-one support from your tutor. You will also have time each week to work independently outside the classroom.

  • 2. Maths & English

Maths and English are essential skills for work. If you don’t already have a GCSE grade 4 (C) you will continue to study Maths and/or English as part of your course.

  • 3. Work Experience & Employability

Developing employability skills is a key part of your course. Every course has links with employers and businesses or work related learning. Many courses have a period of work experience with an employer during the year.

  • 4. Personal Development & Enrichment

We plan a range of activities each year to help you gain the skills that are valued by employers. The activities include visits, guest speakers, volunteering opportunities, social activities, clubs, sports and career events.

We want to get you on your course and into a career as quickly as possible, but there are some things you may need to know...
