Bookkeeping Level 1
The Bookkeeping Level 1 course is the perfect starting point for complete beginners who want to explore a career in finance or administration. This programme is specifically timetabled to support students who work full-time. Delivered through a blended learning model, you will spend only two hours per fortnight on campus, with the remainder of your studies completed flexibly using industry-leading online learning resources.
You will gain an introduction to the role of a bookkeeper and develop the foundational knowledge needed to identify and carry out simple bookkeeping activities. You will learn about income and expenditure, profit and loss, and the benefits and risks associated with bookkeeping software, preparing you for further study or entry-level administrative roles.
This is a 12 week courses with blended delivery. You will spend two hours per fortnight on campus.

Entry Requirements
The entry requirements for this course are:
- No previous accounting or bookkeeping experience is required
- A good standard of English and maths (Level 1 recommended)
- Basic IT skills
- Assessment and interview

What will I study?
This course consists of the following modules:
- Understand the role of the bookkeeper
- Understand financial transactions
- Process customer and supplier transactions
- Process receipts and payments
- Understand the benefits and risks of using accounting software

How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed via:
- A single, time-limited, computer-based exam set and marked by AAT covering all the learning outcomes.
