Applied Science Level 3 (Biomedical/Forensics Pathway)
The BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Applied Science is a two-year, full-time qualification equivalent to three A Levels, designed for learners who want to progress to university or a science-related career.
The course provides a broad foundation in applied science while allowing learners to specialise in areas such as biomedical science, analytical/forensic science, or physical science.
Learners develop knowledge through a combination of theory, practical investigation and applied learning in realistic contexts.

Entry Requirements
The entry requirements for this course are:
- 5 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above (including English and maths)
- Science GCSE desirable, or relevant Level 2 qualification (Merit or above)

You will be assessed via:
- Combination of external exams and internally assessed coursework
- External assessments include written exams and set tasks
Internal assessment includes:
- Practical investigations
- Research projects
- Laboratory-based assignments
- Approximately 42% externally assessed and 58% coursework-based
- Grades range from PPP to DDD*
