The Pearson BTEC Level 1/Level 2 First Extended Certificate in Applied Science is a vocational qualification equivalent to three GCSEs and is designed to deliver the Key Stage 4 science programme through a practical and applied approach.

Learners will explore scientific principles through experiments, investigations and real-life scenarios, developing both theoretical knowledge and hands-on skills.
The course is suitable for learners of all abilities and supports progression into Level 3 study, apprenticeships or employment.

    • Monitoring the Environment

    These units allow learners to specialise and explore areas of interest.

    You will be assessed via:

    • Combination of internal coursework (portfolio/assignments) and external exams
    • Approximately two units externally assessed
    • Ongoing feedback to support progress and achievement
    • Grades awarded: Pass, Merit, Distinction, Distinction*
