Access to Higher Education: Nursing and Midwifery Level 3 is designed to provide aspiring nurses and midwives a route into nursing or midwifery degrees.
The course content focuses on the core knowledge and skills you need to successfully progress to study at degree level in your chosen subject.
The teaching and learning methods will give you opportunities to develop transferable skills including:
- Teamwork
- Problem solving
- Thinking and independent study skills
The course will be conducted over 2-3 days and have teaching of 11 hours a week over the 31weeks - the course will run from February 2024 until December 2024.

The largest employer in the UK Healthcare Sector is the NHS, which employs more than 1.5 million people - placing it in the top five largest workforces in the world. There are more than 350 different roles available within the NHS.
A significant proportion of the sector's workforce is in independent healthcare. In addition to their private sector functions, these providers are increasingly contracted to provide services on behalf of the NHS.

Entry Requirements
The entry requirements for this course are:
- GCSE maths and English at Grade 4 (C) or above, or Level 2 Functional Skills in English or maths
- Interview and assessment
In addition to your Access programme,for those who have not yet achieved a Level 2 in both subjects, you will be required to enrol onto an adult English or maths Level 2 qualification in the specified subject to support your rogression onto higher level study.
It is important to note that all students progressing onto university will need to have achieved a Level 2 qualifications in both English and maths, as well as their main qualification.

Alumni
96% of our Access to HE: Nursing and Midwifery students went on to positive external destinations last year – the majority of which went on to study at Higher Education institutions. 3.6% of students chose to progress in further study with Waltham Forest College.
Two of our Access to HE: Nursing and Midwifery students gained a UEL scholarship last year with overall Distinction grades and evidence of outstanding commitment and progress throughout the year. They went on to study BSc (Hons) Adult Nursing.
