The Gateway Award in Digital & IT Skills Level 2 is designed to help learners develop or extend their knowledge, skills and understanding required to access and progress to higher levels of study or gain employment in the Digital Design sector.

If you have a passion for digital design and want to develop your knowledge and skills in phot editing, then this is the course for you.

This course will help you develop the abilities to work independently and in teams, to create original visual content for a range of digital media platforms.

During theory lessons, you will be supported to develop or enhance transferable employability skills including digital, project management, teamwork, research, communication and presentation skills alongside time management.

This course is 1 day per week, 3 hours per session and will be a mixture of theory and practical lessons.

    The UK's creative industries boast a range of interesting and exciting careers for those looking to enter a thriving and innovative sector, with opportunities ranging from jobs involved with arts, culture and design to working in video gaming or the media.

    The creative industries bring together a range of sub-sectors involved with economic activities that all have creativity at their centre. From fashion, crafts and visual arts to music, publishing, TV, radio and film, these are all part of what's known as the UK's creative economy.

    The entry requirements for this course are:

    • Demonstrate a keen interest in digital design
  • What will I study?

    This course consists of the following modules:

    • Photo editing software
    • Digital skills career progression
  • How will I be assessed?

    You will be assessed via:

    • Project based assignment briefs
  • Enrichment

    The course is supported by trips to digital media experience centres.

    Industry-based guest speakers are invited to help students further develop their knowledge and understanding of the Digital Design Industry.

  • Work Experience

    You will be offered opportunities to actively engage with industry related employers and take part in experiential events to improve your personal development.

  • Progression opportunities

    The completion of this course will allow you to progress onto:

    • Related Level 3 course
    • Entry level employment in the Digital Design Sector
    • Actively participate and contribute to the local communities and the surrounding boroughs of Waltham Forest College
